His story is interesting. It is a year since Barack Obama was inaugurated as President of the Unites States of America.

I know it is a year since Barack Obama was inaugurated as President of the Unites States of America.

It is a year since Barack Obama was inaugurated as President of the United States of America. He now lives in the White House.

ANASTASIA: #1--this is not a phrase, and it has to be added to the clause given not written in a separate sentence;-) #2--this is not a dependent clause; #3--you have again used a separate sentence--join it to the the clause given by using a semicolon;-)
