DEPENDANT CLAUSE
I have mixed feelings about Valentine's Day, it's just another day.
PHRASE
I have mixed feelings about Valentine's Day, I never know what to get my wife on that special day.
Dave: Both of these are independent clauses--they could form a complete sentence.
DEPENDENT CLAUSE
I have mixed feelings about Valentine's Day, which it's just another day.
PHRASE
I have mixed feelings about Valentine's Day, but once a year.
Arrrghhh, 2nd attempt.
Dave: You had no idea there were so many pitfalls:)
#1: "which " is the subject of that clause, so don't use "it" as well; it's similar to people saying "me, I".
#2: You have a phrase, but the meaning is ambiguous, and there's no comma.
