EXAM PRACTICE, Feb. 24th, 2010

The following question is similar to the one in part 3 of the Engl 140 final exam. There are many possible answers. Write a sentence using the vocabulary and grammar indicated.


Add a dependent clause in the past progressive tense to the following independent clause:

The accident happened on my way home from work ...

The accident happened on my way home from work when I was driving on a busy highway.

The accident happened on my way home from work, while I was backing out of the parking spot.

JOANNE:Yes, but no comma when the dependent clause is second in the sentence;-)

The accident happened on my way home from work because I paid to much attention setting up the radio.

DANIEL: Yes, but note that when "to" is an adverb of intensity, you need the "too" form.
